Why is Klout important in Digital Marketing?

One of the most important tools that Digital Marketing offers to customers is that it is measurable. Traditional media can’t offer what Internet and Social Media give: real, specific and actual data about all the people involved into a selling process.

The question appears when we want to develop a Social Media strategy, and there are plenty of “professionals” that offer us their services. How can we know who is just a freak or who has a large and influential net of contacts? That answer starts to be answered by business that measures the influence in the net, and the most important at all is Klout.

Klout and Social Media

Klout has developed what they call “Klout Score”, a number between 1 a 100, trying to measure all the influence of a person in the net. Klout uses several variables on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Xing, FourSquare and YouTube to measure True Reach, Amplification Probability, and Network Score.

It’s very important, if we can focus in a targeted market, to know if someone is influential in that field.

Klout says that through True Reach people can know the size of their engaged audience, based on those of the followers and friends who actively listen and react to the messages. Amplification Score is the likelihood that messages will generate actions (retweets, @messages, likes and comments) and is on a scale of 1 to 100. Network score indicates how influential the engaged audience is and is also on a scale from 1 to 100.

The Klout score would be highly correlated to clicks, comments and retweets, and remember, you can be an influent person in Lobster, as Miriam, Carl Jung, as Pamela or even Arizona, like me (of course, I know, Intenet Marketing and Digital Marketing are more interesting features from a point of view of a Digital Marketing Consultant from León).

Is that for me?
